The Tar Ovens

Nestling in an aromatic pine forest, you find Russian-inspired tar ovens and an old hay barn. In the period from 1910 until the Second World War, charcoal was produced here and tar was extracted from timber to impregnate fishing nets and fence posts, and maintain wooden buildings.

This is one of only a few places where the tar ovens remain. Take your time to enjoy a tranquil moment in the shade of the hay barn.
