The Heath Troldhede

Troldhede gave rise to dramatic events associated with lignite extraction, which began here during the First World War (1914- 1918). Lignite extraction was then reduced until the outbreak of the Second World War (1939-1945).

When extraction was discontinued, Kulsø lake was transformed into an area of natural beauty with paths, a fire ring and a roofed shelter for picnickers.

The Ejstrup lakes (8 km west of Troldhede) are also well worth a visit. There are paths, toilet facilities, a shelter for picnickers, a mountain bike track and fishing in the lake
